Getting started

Is SimQuota free?

Yes. The Free tier gives you live tracking, 7-day history, 3 alert thresholds, burst detection, widgets, Live Activity, roaming detection, and the eSIM Finder — all without an account.

Pro ($2.99/mo or $19.99/yr) and Pro Family ($4.99/mo or $34.99/yr) add cross-device sync, longer history, family monitoring, and other extras. Both paid tiers include a 14-day free trial.

Do I need an account?

No. SimQuota works completely offline on the Free tier — nothing is sent to our servers.

An account is only needed if you want cloud backup of your usage history, cross-device sync, or family monitoring. Sign-in is via Apple Sign In or email.

What iPhones does SimQuota support?

Any iPhone running iOS 17 or later. That's iPhone XS (2018) and newer.

For Live Activities and Dynamic Island, you need iPhone 14 Pro or newer. Standard widgets work on all supported devices.

Does it work outside the App Store, like sideloading?

No. SimQuota is distributed exclusively through the App Store. We use App Store subscriptions for billing and Apple's privacy entitlements — both require App Store distribution.

Accuracy & technology

How accurate is it compared to my carrier's bill?

Typically within 2–5% of your carrier's measurement. SimQuota reads your iPhone's network interface byte counters directly — the same data source iOS Settings uses.

Small drift is normal: carriers count signaling overhead, retransmissions, and rounding differently than your device. You can calibrate from a known carrier reading at any time.

Does it drain my battery?

No. SimQuota samples usage every 60 seconds when active. There is no continuous background process when the app is closed.

Widgets read cached values; they don't trigger fresh samples. Live Activity uses iOS's standard low-power background updates.

Does it work with any carrier?

Yes. Any carrier, any country, any network technology (4G LTE, 5G, NSA, SA). We have a built-in database of 110+ major carriers across 60+ countries for automatic roaming rate lookup — and roaming detection itself works everywhere via Mobile Country Code.

Does it support eSIM and dual-SIM?

Yes. SimQuota tracks each SIM separately, including eSIMs. Free supports up to 2 SIMs; Pro and Pro Family support up to 4 with independent limits, billing cycles, and roaming configs.

Privacy & data

What data leaves my device?

On the Free tier, nothing. Usage tracking, history, alerts — all stay on your device.

If you sign in or subscribe to Pro, anonymous usage snapshots can sync to our backend so you can see them on other devices or share with family. You can opt out anytime in Settings.

See the full Privacy Policy for what we collect and why.

Do you sell or share my data?

No. SimQuota has no ads, no analytics SDKs from third parties, no data brokers. The business model is App Store subscriptions — that's the only revenue stream.

The only data we share with third parties is what's strictly required to run the service: hashed user IDs to Apple for receipt verification, email addresses to Resend to send the digest emails you opted into, and crash reports to Sentry (which you can opt out of).

Can I delete my account and data?

Yes. Settings → Account → Delete account. We soft-delete for 30 days (so accidental deletions can be recovered), then permanently purge.

The Free tier has no account to delete — uninstalling the app removes everything from your device.

Subscriptions & billing

How does the 14-day free trial work?

Pick Pro or Pro Family in the app. You get 14 days of full access to that tier with no charge.

Apple will notify you 24 hours before the trial ends. Cancel before then in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions and you pay nothing. After the trial, the subscription auto-renews at the displayed price.

How do I cancel?

iOS handles all cancellations: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → SimQuota → Cancel.

You keep access until the end of the paid period (e.g., cancel a yearly sub on day 50 of 365 — you keep Pro until day 365).

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple, not SimQuota. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com within 60 days of charge — most refund requests for unused subscriptions are approved.

See our Refund Policy for details.

What if I'm on Family Sharing?

Pro Family is shareable via iCloud Family Sharing — one purchase covers up to 5 people on your Apple Family. The "Pro Family" subscription separately adds monitoring features for up to 8 SimQuota family members across separate Apple IDs.

Family plan

What does Pro Family add over Pro?

Pro Family is for monitoring multiple iPhones in a household. It adds:

  • Up to 8 family members in one dashboard
  • Family dashboard (in-app and web)
  • Kids Mode — soft limits for younger members
  • Invite by code or email
  • Admin controls — pause data limits remotely, override alerts
Do family members each pay for Pro?

No. One Pro Family subscription covers up to 8 monitored members. Each member installs SimQuota for free on their device and accepts the family invite.

What's Kids Mode?

A simplified version of SimQuota for younger family members. Removes settings, alerts, and analytics — kids see a clean usage gauge. Admins can set hard or soft data limits and pause usage tracking remotely.

Troubleshooting

The number doesn't match my carrier's bill exactly.

Small drift (2–5%) is normal — see "How accurate is it?" above. For larger drift:

  • Reboots can reset the iOS counter — SimQuota handles this but mid-cycle reboots can cause one-time gaps
  • If you reset iOS network statistics, recalibrate SimQuota from Settings → Calibrate from carrier reading
  • Background app refresh data is included by SimQuota but excluded by some carrier plans
I'm not getting alert notifications.

Check three things:

  • iOS Settings → SimQuota → Notifications — must be allowed
  • Within SimQuota: Settings → Alerts → make sure your thresholds are enabled
  • Focus modes (Do Not Disturb, Sleep) can silence notifications — add SimQuota to the allow list

Still not working? Email [email protected].

Restored an old backup — my history is gone.

On Free tier, your history lives in the app's local storage. iCloud backup may not include it depending on your backup settings.

If you're on Pro with cross-device sync enabled, your history is in the cloud — sign in on the new device and it'll restore.
